Ubuntu installieren

0. Per HDMI einen zweiten Monitor anschliessen
1. Beim Boot F2 drücken und dann im Bios ein Passwort setzen so dass man Secureboot deaktivieren kann
2. Im Bios das Touchpad von Advanced auf Basic stellen
3. Ubuntu 18.04 installieren ab USB stick oder Externem USB CD-ROM
4. mit dem Nouveau Treiber funktionieren beide Bildschirme (also auch der am HDMI Port) auf anhieb, aber wenn der HDMI Monitor ein TV ist geht Audio nicht mit dem Nouveau
5. Proprietären NVIDIA Treiber installieren: sudo apt-get install nvidia-384
6. Workarround von hhfeuer von GITHUB installieren nach Anleitung im README.md damit man Ton auf dem HDMI hat
7. läuft auch mit einem Bildschirm

Wenn man nicht den zweiten Monitor oder TV anschliess crasht der XSERVER ca. 30 Sekunden nach dem Start, sobald man den nvidia-384 installiert hat tritt der Fehler nicht mehr auf…!!!

Energie sparen

Mit prime-select [ query | intel | nvidia ] kann man einstellen ob die Grafikkarte auf NVIDIA oder Intel Grafikkarte laufen soll Modus. Der 2. Bildschirm ist an der NVIDIA angeschlossen läuft also nur mit dem NVIDIA Treiber. Mit der NVIDIA hält der akku aber keine 2h. Das Umstellen Bringt nichts weil der aktuelle Treiber der Grafikkarte nicht den Strom abdreht (bbswitch macht das aber) und da gibts ein Tool auf Github: https://github.com/matthieugras/Prime-Ubuntu-18.04 dann reicht die Batterie fast 3h.

Allenfalls könnte es noch helfen Prozessor Kerne zu deaktivieren um Strom zu sparen: https://github.com/braindef/installation-scripts/blob/master/hardware/disableCores.sh

Installing Ubuntu

0. Attach a second Screent to HDMI Port
1. At Boot press F2 to set a BIOS password so that you can disable Secureboot
2. In Bios switch the touchpad from Advanced to Basic
3. Install Ubuntu 18.04 from a Stick or USB CD-ROM
4. With the Nouveau Drivers Two screens work out of the box
5. Install proprietary NVIDIA Driver with sudo apt-get install nvidia-384
6. Workarround: hhfeuer von GITHUB follow README.md otherwise you will not have sound on the HDMI Port
7. working also with one screen

If you dont attach a second screen or TV then XSERVER will crash within 30 Seconds so you would not have time to install the proprietary driver. After installing the proprietary Driver the problem is gone
a muss man mit grub Parameter rd.driver.blacklist=nouveau starten damit man mit dem Installationsmedium überhaupt installieren kann

Saving Energy

The battery consumption problem can be solved with prime-select [ query | intel | nvidia ] but but because this does not really work you must install a workaround https://github.com/matthieugras/Prime-Ubuntu-18.04 and then you have almost 3h Battery time
